Raag Canvas (Personal Project)

This journey began with a simple thought – “Why we like what we like?”

A Raga is a melodic framework for improvisation in Indian classical music – tied to specific times, moods, and seasons. Each raga has its own set of notes, almost like a personality.

I created a space where each seven note is assigned with a seven rainbow color—Sa(C) - Red, Re(D) - Orange, Ga(E) - Yellow, Ma(F) - Green, Pa(G) - Blue, Dha(A) - Indigo, Ni(B) - Violet, Sa(C) – Maroon.

Process –

Mapping note scale intensity through a color gradient

The website turns these notes into interactive, abstract art. Each shape plays a specific note when clicked

The way these images animate reflects AI’s prompted imagination. Results based on each raag.

This is my way of experimenting with how music feels visually and emotionally. What happens when sound and sight overlap? Can a raga be both heard and seen? I don’t have all the answers, but it’s been amazing watching these connections unfold – blending the boundaries between senses in ways that continue to surprise me.
